Founded in 1987, the International Space University (ISU) is the world’s leading private, non-profit institution of higher education, dedicated to the development of space for peaceful purposes through international, intercultural and interdisciplinary education and research programs. ISU offers a variety of programs ranging from its full-year central campus based Master of Space Studies, to its Space Studies Program, a two-month professional development program that has convened annually every Summer since 1988 at various locations around the world, to its one-month Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program, held annually in Australia, to Professional Development Programs held in various countries.

The Board of Trustees will nominate a successor to the present ISU President to take up their duties in the August – September 2021 timeframe, depending on arrangements to be made with the selected candidate.
The ideal candidate shall be an entrepreneurial, strategic, and inspirational leader with demonstrated success managing an international, multidisciplinary organization. Applicants shall have proven experience at senior level in an academic institution and demonstrable knowledge of academic processes and procedures. They shall also have experience in development and fundraising to ensure that the resources to allow ISU to achieve ever-higher levels of excellence can be secured. Applicants should be well-reputed with proven experience in international negotiations and exchanges. The next President must also be an effective communicator and a forceful advocate for ISU and its values.
It is desirable that applicants hold a PhD degree or equivalent. They must be fluent in English with proficiency in French considered an asset. It is strongly desired that the candidates have good knowledge of the space enterprise and related areas.
