Dear all,

On behalf of myself, Maria Perino (Editor in Chief), Tihomir Dimitrov (Layout and Graphics), Abdul M Ismail (Deputy Editor), our Contributing Editors and especially all of our Authors, may I welcome you to the Autumn 2020 issue of Space Talk – The Next Generation (SpaceTalk-TNG), the quarterly e-magazine produced for Alumni of all ISU courses, by the Alumni Community.

We hope this message finds you and your families all healthy and coping well under the current surreal circumstances.

Unfortunately, it’s been quite a while since the last issue.  Over the last 12 months myself, Tisho and Ab have all been really busy addressing family, work/MSc and PhD issues respectively and therefore unable to dedicate much time to the magazine.  Hopefully we can now settle into a bi-annual publication schedule in the Spring and Autumn of each year.

You’ll find this eighth issue (and the previous issues) located here: https://www.isunet.edu/alumni-magazine/

Our aim, with SpaceTalk-TNG, is to reach out to alumni of ISU from all countries, cultures, disciplines and generations. Please help us reach more of our community by sharing the link.

I hope you’ll find something of interest. We welcome any and all feedback/suggestions (to: editor@spacetalk-tng.news)

Spring 2021 Issue

We’re now thinking ahead to our ninth issue, due out in March 2021.  Please do consider making a contribution – this doesn’t have to be a full article, but can take many forms:

  • An article (usually up to 1800 words), preferably with some high resolution photos / graphics
  • A report on a recent alumni related event (alumni dinner, alumni reunion, alumni wedding, etc.)
  • A planned alumni event such as those above

We would like to emphasise that we welcome articles on all topics whether directly Space related or not. It is primarily our attendance at ISU that unites us, not our areas of expertise.

Some topics that have not got much attention to date – and that we’d therefore like to encourage:

  • The ISU community is known for its entrepreneurial start-ups and we’d like to encourage you to use SpaceTalk-TNG to promote your company, services and projects. If you have a prototype; for example, beta software that needs verifying or perhaps you seek additional seed capital; then feel free to submit non-proprietary information in the form of an article in order to pitch to the community.
  • The magazine has thus far focused on input from the community with the occasional guest contribution. We’d now like to encourage your associates/affiliates to send in submissions – as long as a member of the alumni community or faculty is an integral member of that project. The alumni partner should add one paragraph to explain her/his relationship to the article’s content.

If you have an idea for a contribution and would like to discuss it, please do contact us at: editor@spacetalk-tng.news.

See the back cover for details on how to contribute. Submission deadline for the next issue is February 14th 2021.

Keep in touch!
