ISU opens competition for the SSP19 host site
At present, a highly successful Space Studies Program session (SSP16) is taking place in Haifa, Israel. For 2017 and 2018 the future locations have already been chosen.
For 2017: Cork in Ireland, Cork Institute of Technology CIT and for 2018: Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, in cooperation with Leiden University and the European Space Agency Technology and Research Facility ESTEC in Noordwijk in the close vicinity.
These three locations allow ISU to be present in three new countries where no SSP had previously taken place, namely Israel, Ireland and the Netherlands, which fits very well with the original vision of ISU to rotate regularly all over the world, in line with the international and intercultural character of the University.
Time has come now to look into the future post-2018 for SSP. In order to do so, the Request For Proposal (RFP) has been reworked and is available HERE.
As a first step, Letters of Interest are expected, as described in the referred RFP. An interesting fact to be highlighted, is that this will lead to a mutual interest. Indeed, host countries will not only increase their visibility in the space sector, but will also, based upon previous calculations by host countries, bring in the order of 3 Million € to the local economy.
ISU hopes to receive the usual high interest to host SSP19 session and is looking forward to the proposals!
