Football Match ISU Alumni and Staff versus SSP17 Participants: 1-1

As now traditional, during the ISU SSP17 alumni weekend and conference, a football match was organized between the Space Studies Program SSP17 participants and the alumni and staff.

Unfortunately, the 1-1 result is not … referring to the final score but to the number of registered participants. Indeed, by a sheer coincidence this year an equal number of alumni (112) taking part in the weekend as there were SSP17 participants! (also 112).
The soccer score was ‘slightly’ less positive for the staff and alumni (they finally lost with 8-2…) but that did not hinder at all the great atmosphere.

alumniWE SSP17 2.pngThe high number of participants, who expressed unanimously their satisfaction of this event and the ISU organizational support, is a clear indication on the right way this yearly gathering is developing.

In particular, the presentations of ISU alumni to the participants, explaining how ‘ISU changed my life’ were very well received and appreciated.
Steve Brody, ISU Vice-President for North American Operations then moderated a debate on how alumni see the future of ISU. Panelists included representatives of ISU SSP15 Vision 2040.

Alumni participants were delighted to be able to take part in ISU’s 30th anniversary celebrations. They enjoyed mingling with SSP17 participants whilst enjoying a delicious gala dinner. And many had brought with them their costumes to relive some fun moments during the Space Masquerade.

This success is a strong encouragement for the ISU team to continue this activity and even improve it the coming years!
