An internationalist by education and inclination, Dr. Simpson’s academic career extends over 25 years and two continents. He has been president of Utica College and the American University of Paris with a combined total of fifteen years of experience as an academic chief executive officer. He has taught courses in political science, international relations, business management, leadership and economics at Universities in both the United States of America and France. He received his Bachelors Degree magna cum laude from Fordham University in 1970 where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He has also been elected to academic honor societies in the fields of political science and business management. After graduating from Fordham University, Dr. Simpson accepted a commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring from the Naval Reserve in 1993. Dr. Simpson completed his Ph.D. at Tufts University, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, holds the Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University; and two Master of Arts degrees from The Fletcher School. He has also completed two prestigious one year courses in Europe: the French advanced defense institute (Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale) and the General Course of the London School of Economics.

steve_brody1.jpgSteve Brody, Vice-President, North American Operations

Steven Brody operates ISU’s North American Office, located in the Washington, DC area.  Before joining ISU, Steve held numerous senior positions with NASA in Washington, DC, Houston, and in Europe. He was intimately involved with the Discovery Program of planetary science missions, including Lunar Prospector, Genesis, and Deep Impact. In earlier roles, he contributed to NASA’s Strategic Planning, its investment in in-situ resource utilization, and its support of the commercial development of space. While working on the Space Station Program, he spent four years in The Netherlands as NASA’s representative to ESA. 
Before joining NASA, Steve worked in aerospace industry, performing systems engineering and project management for Space Shuttle integration & test, and he also served in a business development role. He has a Bachelor's degree in Physics (Drexel Univ.), and a Masters in Aeronautics & Astronautics (MIT). Steve is a Board member of the American Astronautical Society, an Associate Fellow of the AIAA, and a member of the National Space Society, The Planetary Society, and the Washington Space Business Roundtable. He was a participant in the first NASA-sponsored G.K. O’Neill Colonization of Space summer study.

walter_peeters1.jpgProf. Walter Peeters, Dean, Vice-President, Academic Affairs

Professor in Space Business and Management at ISU. Initial management positions in construction and petrochemical industry. Joined ESA in 1983 in a number of project control and management functions, a.o. in the HERMES project in Toulouse. Since 1980 involved in astronaut activities as Head of the Coordination Office of the European Astronaut Center in Cologne, with strong involvement in the EUROMIR missions. Author of articles on incentive contracting; project management, space commercialization and organization in the space sector. Author of the book‚ ‘Space Marketing‘ (Kluwer, 2000). Recent research on space commercialization, financing models of space projects and space tourism. Contributor to various organizations in the area of space commercialization (Working Group 2000, JAXA, OECD, IAC, IBA). Bachelor degrees in engineering and applied economics (Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium) Master of Business Administration degree (Louvain, Cornell University), Ph.D. in Industrial Organization (TU Delft, the Netherlands). Joined ISU in 2000, after a stay as visiting professor (Non-profit Marketing) at the University of Louvain.




angie_bukley1.jpgProf. Angie Bukley, Associate Dean

Dr. Angie Bukley has over 25 years of professional experience in defense and space systems and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Prior to joining ISU, Dr. Bukley served as Director of the University of Tennessee Space Institute in Tullahoma, Tennessee, USA. Before that she was the associate dean for research & graduate studies in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, USA. She spent five years with The Aerospace Corporation in Albuquerque, NM, USA assigned to the Airborne Laser System Program Office at Kirtland Air Force Base. Dr. Bukley has worked with a number of defense contractors on a wide variety of programs. She also spent seven years at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama where she directed the Large Space Structures Laboratory and worked on remote sensing applications.
She is an alumna of the ISU SSP 1993 and ISU faculty member, having held department and team project chair positions during the SSP and MSc programs since 1995.
